Kempegowda International Airport


Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) is the International Airport of Karnataka and is located in the city of Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka.  A public-private venture Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) owns and operates the KIA and is the first of its type in the Indian aviation sector. This airport was inaugurated on the 24th May 2008 and was renamed on 14 December 2013 as “Kempegowda International Airport” in tribute to the founder of the Bangalore city. After Delhi and Mumbai, the KIA in India is the third-busiest airport. The KIA is located in Devanahalli, 35 km north of Bangalore city center. In the year 2015 and 2017, SKYTRAX World Airport Awards recognized the BLR Airport as the ‘Best Regional Airport in India and Central Asia’.
The KIA was considered as the most preferred airport in South India during the Christmas holiday season of 2017. Ozone Urbana Prime is one of the residential Projects in Devanahalli is coming up near to this.

There are a lot of facilities that are available for the passengers of the Bangalore International Airport. The lounges are operated by the Plaza Premium and they also offer Pay-in lounge facility. The VIP lounge is on the 1st floor of the airport. You can do a lot of shopping here in the duty-free shops like Sound and Vision in your waiting period of time and also there are a few retail shops like The Lotus House, Centrum, BIBA, Titan, Fossil watches, Kashish, FabIndia, Shoppers Stop, etc. You will also find some restaurants and coffee shops inside like La Tapenade, Tiffin Center, Hatti Kaapi, KFC, Chai Point, Maiyas, and Bar 380. Some free services like Wi-fi, ATM, pharmacy, spa and salon, wheelchair assistance, luggage storage, childcare rooms etc..

 The Bangalore Airport has also introduced the BLR Airport App and Twitter hash tag #Flightstatus, which will enable the passengers to receive notifications via social media.
The transport facilities around the airport are very good and a lot of options are available like the private car rentals, cab facility, BMTC bus service both AC and Non AC buses.
There are a lot of hotels located near to the airport in Devanahalli in Bangalore. Some luxury hotels like the Olde Bangalore, Taj Bangalore, Signature Club Resort, Goldfinch Retreat are located nearby the airport. The Bangalore Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) is all set to be become India’s first Aadhaar-enabled airport by 2018. With the implementation of this system, it will enhance the security and pace up the clearance and ease out the delays at the airport.
