Kempegowda International Airport
Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) is the International Airport of Karnataka and is located in the city of Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka. A public-private venture Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) owns and operates the KIA and is the first of its type in the Indian aviation sector. This airport was inaugurated on the 24th May 2008 and was renamed on 14 December 2013 as “Kempegowda International Airport” in tribute to the founder of the Bangalore city. After Delhi and Mumbai, the KIA in India is the third-busiest airport. The KIA is located in Devanahalli, 35 km north of Bangalore city center. In the year 2015 and 2017, SKYTRAX World Airport Awards recognized the BLR Airport as the ‘Best Regional Airport in India and Central Asia’. The KIA was considered as the most preferred airport in South India during the Christmas holiday season of 2017.
